Indonesia's newspaper defends itself over Islamic State cartoon

  • Jakarta Post has defended itself as its editor was named in a case of defamation after the Indonesian newspaper published a cartoon critical of Islamic State.

The cartoon depicts a flag similar to the one used by the militant group in Iraq and Syria, along with the words “there is no God but Allah” and crossbones and a skull.

Some people have complained that the cartoon was offensive to Muslims, reports said. The newspaper later issued an apology.
