Indian sterilization deaths: Medicines were contaminated?
November 14 , 2014
Indian authorities say adulterated antibiotics may have led to the deaths of 13 women after a sterilization camp in Chhattisgarh, a state in central India.
With 20 women still in intensive care, the death toll could rise.
All victims had attended two sterilization camps, the second of which may have been a money-making racket, officials say.
State chief minister Raman Singh said owners of the firms who sold the drugs would be questioned, and their factories had been sealed.
