April 11 , 2015
India have lodged a strong protest over Pakistan’s move to release on bail Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the suspected mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 166 people.
The Indian ambassador met the Pakistan foreign secretary in Islamabad to formally register New Delhi’s “strong concerns” over the release.
Lakhvi was freed from a Rawalpindi jail after his detention was declared void by the high court.
France’s president Francois Hollande has expressed his “indignation” over the development. India’s prime minister Narendra Modi is currently visiting France.
