India is polio-free

  • The World Health Organization has received no new cases of polio in India over the last three years. Hence 80 percent of the world is now free of the virus.

Despite the fact that a vaccination campaign began in 1995, the situation in India made eradication a tough thing to come by.

Reports suggest that Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to struggle with the disease.
