Ignore latest WikiLeaks cables, Saudi Arabia tells its citizens

  • The Saudi regime has urged its citizens to ignore the cables leaked by WikiLeaks that give a glimpse into the kingdom’s functioning and reveal potentially embarrassing details like the monitoring of dissidents.

The 61,000 diplomatic documents are the first lot in the 500,000 cables that Julian Assange, the founder of the transparency website, has promised to publish online.

The cables released so far also offer insights into Saudi Arabia’s focus on its regional rival Iran and the Egyptian revolution.
