July 4 , 2014
Hurricane Arthur, with wind speeds of 100mph, made landfall in North Carolina state between Beaufort and Cape Lookout, officials from the United States National Hurricane Center said.
Many residents left the area in wake of what’s been classified as a Category 2 storm.
Evacuation was made mandatory on Hatteras Island, the Outer Banks’ easternmost land strip.
North Carolina’s governor Pat McCrory urged holidaymakers to avoid taking any risks near the coastal areas.
