Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has returned home after receiving treatment for cancer in Cuba.
Chavez, 58, announced his return on Twitter to 3.9 million followers on Monday.
"We have arrived back in the land of Venezuela. Thank you Lord!! Thanks to my beloved people!! We will continue our treatment here."
He also thanked Cuban President and ex-leader Raul and Fidel Castro as well as the Venezuelan public for their support..
Chavez has been president for 14 years and was re-elected for another six-year term in October 2012. However, his swearing-in was delayed due to his illness.
Chavez left for Havana to have surgery on December 11, his fourth operation since he was diagnosed with cancer in 2011.
No information has yet been given as to whether he will actively take up the duties of office.
He is yet to be sworn in for his new term. Chavez’s inauguration was scheduled for January 10 but the Venezuelan Supreme Court ruled that he could be sworn in at a later date.
Vice-President Nicolas Maduro has effectively been running the country.
However, the opposition has pushed for National Assembly Speaker Diosdado Cabello to take over and argued that new elections should be held.
