Houston witnesses record rainfall

Houston witnessed record rainfall prompting Texas governor Greg Abbott to declare a state of emergency. As per media reports, five people have been killed in the excessive rainfall. On Monday alone, Houston received some 17.6 inches of rain, as per meteorologists. In downtown Houston, rivers burst their banks and around 1,200 people had to be rescued from floodwaters. The city witnessed massive outages, leaving around 70,000 people without power.
