Honduras Election Result Protest Turns Deadly, 1 Protester Dead

  • On-going protest (after the re-election of the incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez) in Honduras turned deadly as one protester has reportedly died after a clash between angry demonstrators and riot police. Reports say a 60-year-old man died and another person got wounded after riot police opened fire on roadblock. Supporters of the opposition leader Salvador Nasralla have denied the November 25 election result as they accuse the election tribunal (counting the votes) to be biased in favor of incumbent President Hernández's National Party. While police say only 3 people have died till now, human rights group Amnesty International claim the number to be 14.
