Hollande won't seek re-election if he fails to cut unemployment
November 7 , 2014
France’s President Francois Hollande says he won’t seek re-election if he does not succeed in slashing unemployment, according to media reports.
Admitting in a televised interview that he had made mistakes since coming to power in 2012, he pledged to take his attempts to reform the economy “to the end.”
The latest polls show his approval ratings are hovering around 12%, an all-time low. The Front National, a far-right party, has made considerable gains in the last two years.
The next presidential polls are due in 2017.
