Haiti protests continue as President Martelly tries to strike election deal
January 12 , 2015
There are no signs of protests abating in Haiti over the election stand-off as President Michel Martelly attempts to secure an eleventh hour agreement with opposition leaders, according to media reports.
If no deal is reached by Monday, the country could enter an uncertain phase that may see the parliament being dissolved, media reports said.
The protests have often been violent, with demonstrators urging Martelly to step down. They allege that Martelly is trying to stall the elections.
