Great Britain wins First Women’s Hockey Gold
Women’s hockey team of Great Britain (GB) secured a dramatic win over defending champion as well as current world champion Netherlands in the final of Rio Olympic 2016 when the former scored 2-0 in the penalty shootout, after the two teams finished 3-3 in normal time. The two decisive penalties scored on behalf of GB were Helen Richardson-Walsh and Hollie Webb. Britain’s goalkeeper Maddie Hinch became star of the day as she saved all the Dutch penalty strokes along with lots of Dutch penalty corners.
