Gaza row: Palestinian unity government to resign, says Abbas
June 17 , 2015
President Mahmoud Abbas has announced the resignation of the Palestinian unity government.
Abbas reportedly said that the Hamas was not allowing Fatah to operate in the Gaza strip.
Fatah governs the West Bank and had serious differences with the Islamist Hamas. Last year, the two came together to form a unity government.
Fatah has accused Hamas of wanting to create an independent Islamic state.
Israel has refused to deal with the Hamas-backed unity government.
