Gaza death toll hits 100
November 20 , 2012
At least 105 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip following six days of violence as Israeli forces continue an offensive they claim is to prevent rocket attacks into Israel.
Monday's causalities include a commander of Hamas, according to the Islamic Jihad militant group.
Militants fired more than 100 rockets on Israel on Monday though no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, the Israeli cabinet has met to discuss an Egyptian ceasefire proposal.
The content of the Egyptian plan is not yet known though both Israel and Hamas have presented conditions.
Israel's conditions include no hostile fire from Gaza along with international efforts to prevent Hamas from rearming. Hamas has demanded an end to the blockade on Gaza and "Israel's assassinations".
Egypt has been leading the efforts to broker a peace deal.
