Gaza comes under heavy fire as Israel warns of 'protracted campaign'
July 29 , 2014
Gaza faced heavy Israeli bombardment as signs of a possible ceasefire appeared remote.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s home and al-Aqsa TV and al-Aqsa Radio stations were among the 150 Israeli targets.
A strike on the Bureij refugee camp killed at least 11 people. There were casualties on the other side too, with at least 10 Israeli soldiers killed in the fighting.
Israel’s prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu said the country was preparing for a “protracted campaign”. He said Israel would act “with force and discretion until our mission is accomplished”.
