Gaddafi's son freed after being kidnapped in Lebanon

  • Hannibal, the son of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, was freed after being briefly kidnapped in Lebanon, reports say.

A video shot during his captivity shows the 40-year-old businessman appealing for information linked to the 1978 disappearance of the prominent Shia cleric Al-Sadr. Hannibal was later freed and sent to Beirut, reports say.

Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and killed after an uprising in Libya in 2011.

Al-Sadr had disappeared during a trip to Libya in 1978.
