G20 Leaders Agree on Trade Reform But Fail to Agree on Paris Accord
December 1 , 2018
World leaders have unanimously agreed upon fixing the trading system at G20 Summit. However, the decision on climate change was not unanimous. All participating countries including the US President Donald Trump signed the final statement at the end of 2-day conference. The final G20 Summit statement called upon reforming the WTO after acknowledging the flawed approach in the global system of trading. The United States reiterated its decision of withdrawing from the Paris climate accord. However, in the statement, 19 member countries reiterated their commitment to fight climate change in accordance with the Paris climate accord. The G20 summit witnessed angry protest outside the venue. The protesters are angry because the Mauricio Macri government of Argentina is spending so much money on the summit while subjecting the common people to tough austerity measures.
