'Friendly fire' kills Iraqi soldiers near Fallujah

  • A US-led air strike targeting Islamic State (Isis) may have killed Iraqi troops, according to the US military.

In a statement the US military said: “Initial reports indicate the possibility one of the strikes resulted in the death of Iraqi soldiers.”

One officer and nine Iraqi soldiers may have either been killed or wounded in the “friendly fire”, reports say.

The coalition air strikes took place near Fallujah, which has seen clashes between Iraqi forces and Isis fighters in recent weeks.
