French Muslim Singer Quits France's The Voice TV Show over Row on Her Social Media Comments

22 year old French Muslim singer Mennel Ibtissem (who shot to fame after her performance at France’s The Voice television show) has reportedly quit the show after being criticized for her social media comments regarding 2016 Nice lorry attack. Mennel became famous after her performance (singing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah) on France's The Voice went viral (watched over 900,000 times on YouTube). On social media Mennel Ibtissem made some controversial comments after Bastille Day terrorist attack at Nice and killing of an elderly priest by militants in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray church. Many social media users said that she insulted Nice attack victims and association of the victims regarded Mennel’s social media comments “unacceptable”. Under pressure, she quit the show.
