French Interior Ministry Issues Statement about Interpol Chief's "Alleged Disappearance" in China

French police have started probing the sudden disappearance of Meng Hongwei (the Interpol chief) after traveling to China from France (where Interpol is headquartered at). French police opened its investigation after Meng Hongwei’s wife reported the police in French city Lyon about not hearing from his husband since September 25, 2018. The French interior ministry said that she is reportedly also receiving threats over social media and phone. In its statement, the interior ministry also said that France is currently in a puzzling situation about the whereabouts as well as the condition of Interpol President Meng Hongwei. The statement also says that the ministry is also “concerned about the threats made to his wife”. France’s interior ministry is reportedly continuing “exchanges with Chinese authorities”. Interpol has stated that they’re aware of Meng’s “alleged disappearance”.
