Francois Hollande to be sworn in

  • Francois Hollande is set to be sworn in as French president, just hours before he travels to Berlin to discuss the future of the eurozone with Germany’s chancellor.

Hollande will be France’s first Socialist leader since 1995.

He is expected to hold talks with Angela Merkel over the German-led austerity plans for Europe.

This comes after stock markets and the euro plummeted on the back of continuing political limbo in Greece.

Following his Berlin trip, Hollande will hold his first cabinet meeting on Thursday and leave for Washington D.C. to meet U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday.
