Former footballer George Weah wins Liberian Presidency

  • Former footballer George Weah has won the Presidential Election in Liberia. He defeated Vice-President Joseph Boakai in a runoff with 61.5% of the vote. He is going to succeed Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa's first elected female president. She defeated him in elections of the year 2005, which were held shortly after the end of a vicious civil war.
