Ex-Brazilian President Lula to stand Trial on Obstructing Justice in Car Wash Probe

  • Ex-Brazilian President Lula to stand Trial on Obstructing Justice in Car Wash Probe

With Rio Olympics to start just a week from now, a federal court judge in Brasília, Ricardo Leite, announced that there are enough evidences available against founder of Worker’s party and former President of Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to initiate a criminal trial on the charges that Lula tried to obstruct justice during investigation of a vast corruption. It is alleged that Lula conspired to buy Nestor Cerveró’s (former director of state-owned oil company, Petrobras)  silence on the infamous Lava Jato (Car Wash) probe. Lula’s lawyer said that the former President vehemently opposes the allegations but not opposed to any fair and open investigation.
