Foreigners hit near Israel border
February 18 , 2014
Three South Koreans as well as an Egyptian driver died after a bus explosion. Over 13 others were also wounded in the explosion, which occurred in an Egyptian resort town.
The vehicle was parked about 200 yards from the Israeli border and this is the first attack in the region against foreigners in about 10 years. The Post noted that this may be part of the stepped-up efforts of Islamic militants against the government of Egypt.
"This is more of a challenge to the government and the state's authority than there ever was before," Kamal Habib of Islamic Jihad said. He mentioned that militants may now be targeting the government by attacking the tourism sector.
