Flight MH17: Netherlands seeks UN-like tribunal to prosecute suspects
June 24 , 2015
The Netherlands is probing the possibility of an international tribunal to prosecute the suspects in the downing of flight MH17 over the skies of eastern Ukraine in July 2014, media reports said.
The Dutch hope that garnering international support for such a court with the backing of other Western countries could put pressure on Russia to cooperate.
A majority of the 298 people on board the Malaysia Airlines flight were Dutch.
Dutch government sources were quoted as saying that they were looking at a UN tribunal.
