Flamengo Football Club Victims Who Died in Rio Fire Identified and Named

  • Brazil’s local media has published names of the 10 young football players who were charred to death at the youth team training center of Flamengo football club, one of the largest football clubs of Brazil. A fire broke out at an air conditioner at the dormitory of the Ninho de Urubu facility of the Rio de Janeiro-based football club. Club President of the 123-year old club, Rodolfo Landim, called it “the worst tragedy this club has been through”. The 10 young players who died are Arthur Vinicius Silva, Bernardo Pisetta, Áthila Paixao, Christian Esmerio, Pablo Henrique, Vítor Isaías, Jorge Eduardo, Gedson Santos, Samuel Thomas, and Rykelmo Viana.
