Five arrested in Tiananmen Attack

  • Chinese authorities have arrested five people in connection to the attack that took place close to the government headquarters in China on Monday. 

    According to the cops, the SUV in Tiananmen Square burst into flames and contained a jihadist flag as well as gasoline and knives. Police identified driver Usmen Hasan to have a Ulighur name and reports suggest that his wife and mother joined him in the vehicle. 

    The five arrested, who were caught 10 hours after the attack, are also believed to have Ulighur names. 

    Ethnic Ulighurs said police have been scrutinizing them even more since the attack. "They come to search us every day," one of them said. "We don't know why. Our IDs are checked everyday, and we don't know what is happening.
