First Zika-affected infant dies in the US

A baby delivered by a mother infected with Zika virus died in Texas, becoming the first known infant who’s died due to the deadly virus in the United States. The baby girl was born in Harris County, Texas. She had several Zika-related birth defects, including microcephaly, wherein the head and brain are left underdeveloped. According to Harris County health officials, the mother of the baby had reportedly contracted the virus in Latin America.
