First case of Ebola in New York reported

  • A 33-year-old American doctor who was recently in west Africa has tested positive for Ebola in New York, the first reported case of the disease in the city.

    Craig Spencer, who returned to New York from Guinea on October 17, displayed symptoms including fever after which he was hospitalized. A test confirmed Ebola.

    Meanwhile, Britain has pledged additional aid of £80 million to Sierra Leone to tackle Ebola. Prime minister David Cameron urged other European leaders to commit more resources in fighting the deadly virus.
