Fire in Georgia Wildlife Refuge Continues to Spread, Residents Evacuated

  • As per reports, firefighters in Georgia’s Wildlife Refuge battled to prevent a fire on Sunday. The fire burned 129,856 acres (52,550 hectares). The risk of fire spreading rose because of the wind gusts and dry conditions.

    Around 535 personnel were assigned to fight the fire. Reports say that 10 helicopters, 55 wildland fire engines, bulldozers and other equipment were also used for the same.

    As of Sunday afternoon, only 12 percent was contained.

    Sources mentioned that, dozens of residents were evacuated due to the fire.

    There are no reports of injures so far.
