Federal Memos on Trump's Ex-Lawyer Michael Cohen Reveal Disturbing Details

  • Two memos on Michael Cohen are released by the federal prosecutors (Department of Justice prosecutors with the Southern District of New York and special counsel Robert Mueller’s office). These two memorandums are ostensibly designed for guiding sentencing of Michael Cohen, the ex-lawyer of Donald Trump from 2006 to 2018, who was terminated from employment after a federal investigation in campaign-related irregularities. Cohen later pleaded guilty in August 2018 to 8 counts of campaign finance violations, bank frauds, and tax frauds. Special counsel Robert Mueller said in his memo that Cohen started engaging with Russia with the knowledge and consent of Donald Trump at a time when Russian government was making sustained efforts in interfering with the US Presidential election 2016.
