Explosion in Paris, gas leak suspected reason for blast

(12: 55 PM GMT, 1 April) Paris Explosion: Police say the blast was accidental
The blast, which took place at 12: 20 PM local time, was accidental, according to police. According to initial investigation, the main cause of the explosion was a fire that caused a gas stove to blow up. The explosion destroyed several floors of the building near the Jardin du Luxembourg. Five people suffered minor injuries. It remains unclear whether there was anyone in the flats at the time of the explosion.
(12: 15 PM GMT, 1 April) Paris Explosion: Firefighters help free victims from building
Around 140 firefighters have started the rescue operation in order to help the victims come out of the building after a huge explosion rocked the building on Friday morning. The building, which has offices of lawyers, accountants and telecommunications firms, is located close to the Paris Stock Exchange and the headquarters of the AFP news agency on the Rue d'Uzes.

A violent explosion in central Paris on Friday afternoon injured at least five people and destroyed a part of a building. The explosion, which is believed to have been caused because of a gas leak, took place in the 6th arrondissement. Residents living near the site of the blast in the 6th arrondissement were evacuated.
