Ex-South Korean President Park Geun-hye Detained over Corruption Scandal

  • As per reports, former South Korean President Park Geun-hye was arrested in corruption probe on Thursday.

    After her arrest was approved by a court, she was driven to a detention centre south of Seoul.

    While Park was investigated on charges of bribery, coercion and leaking government secrets and abuse of authority, a warrant for her detention was issued by the Seoul Central District Court. Following this, she attended around nine-hour court hearing on Thursday.

    Reports also say that before being formally charged, she can be held up for 20 days; if convicted, Park can be jailed for more than 10 years.
