Ex-Serbian Leader Slobodan Milosevic's Lawyer Shot Dead

  • Dragoslav Ognjanovic, a 57-year old prominent lawyer who defended the ex-Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic at his war crimes trial, has been shot dead on Saturday evening in Belgrade outside his residence. The interior ministry of Serbia reportedly said thathe lawyer’s 26-year old son was also wounded during the shooting. Viktor Gostiljac, the head of the Bar Association in Belgrade, said in a statement that Dragoslav Ognjanovic shooting is an attack on all lawyers. He went on to say that they’ll continue exerting pressure on the Serbian authorities for finding the perpetrators of this crime. Reports say Dragoslav Ognjanovic has also defended many high profile mafia cases in both Serbia and Montenegro.
