Ex-President of Brazil sentenced to jail for corruption
July 13 , 2017
A former President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has been sentenced to nearly a decade long jail term after he was convicted on charges of money-laundering and corruption. He incidentally remains one of the most popular presidents in the recent history of Brazil but now faces a jail term of nine years and six months. Known around the world as Lula, he will remain free though till an appeal is made on the issue. His supporters have already come out and described the jail term as a form of political persecution.
