Evacuees leave Puerto Rico by Cruise Ship, some doubting that they will return

  • In the light of the recent catastrophe wreaked by hurricane Maria, on Thursday the San Juan Harbour was packed up as thousands of Puerto Ricans lined up to board a cruise ship to the US mainland. 'Monster' storm Maria not only wreaked havoc in Puerto Rico but also left the Caribbean devastated. Home to 3.4 million US citizens, Puerto Rico was badly hit by Hurricane Maria. It was the fifth strongest storm to ever hit the US. Hurricane Maria was the most powerful storm to hit the islands in nearly 90 years. Due to economic crisis and recent chaos by Hurricane Maria, tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans are fleeing to the US mainland.  Amidst crisis, Royal Caribbean International  is using a cruise ship to help Puerto Ricans evacuate the islands.
