EU official warns of exodus of Jews
January 22 , 2015
A senior European Union (EU) official has warned that the potential exodus of Jews from the continent because of antisemitism was a “huge challenge” and as urgent an issue as the economic problems facing Europe, according to media reports.
Frans Timmermans, the vice-president of the European Commission, said on Wednesday, January 21, that Jewish communities in some EU countries were “not sure they have a future in Europe.”
Concerns within the community about its place in Europe have increased after the Paris terror attack on a kosher supermarket this month that killed four people.
