EU countries to step up identity checks after foiled train attack
August 30 , 2015
European countries will step up baggage controls and identity checks on trains, the French interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve has said.
The move comes after American passengers overpowered a lone gunman on a high-speed train, preventing what could have been a massacre.
Cazeneuve said such checks would be carried out wherever necessary. EU transport and security officials met in Paris after last week’s thwarted attack.
The minister stressed on the need for better coordination between security and intelligence officials across Europe.
