Energy crisis forces Venezuela to shut down for a week

  • President Nicolas Maduro announced an extra three days off, along with the two-day Easter holiday next week to cope up with the massive energy crisis gripping the South American nation of Venezuela. This will have no effect on essential services and other emergencies, although public institutions and shopping malls will see a shutdown. Venezuela faced a similar situation back in 2010 too as the then President Hugo Chavez formulated a week-long Easter holiday setting the precedent of sorts.
