Emergency in Iraq
May 1 , 2016
Emergency has been declared in Baghdad after protesters stormed Iraq’s parliament in a dramatic escalation of political crisis in the country. Protesters stormed the parliament chanting slogans and waving flags demanding reform in the present government. Major demands include putting an end to quota system which started after US invasion in 2003. Few law makers are still trapped inside the parliament. The political turmoil has brought greater instability in the region which is already facing multiple threats from Islamic State and a struggling economy.
