Emergency call for Ebola research made
August 22 , 2014
An emergency call for research to counter Ebola was launched by the Wellcome Trust and Britain’s Department for International Development as the death toll from the outbreak continues to rise in West Africa.
The trust and department are making a $10.8 million fund available for immediate research to “tackle the outbreak as effectively as possible and prevent more people contracting this terrible disease,” according to Justine Greening, secretary, International Development.
An additional $66.5 million will be made available over five years for health researchers from Africa, the Wellcome Trust said.
