El Passo Mass Shooting at Walmart Store in Texas Kills 20 People and Leaves 26 Others Injured

  • A 21-year-old gunman Patrick Crusius went on a shooting spree at a Walmart store (near the Cielo Vista Mall) in El Paso city of Texas on Saturday. 20 people are reportedly dead and 26 others injured during the mass shooting. While the US President Donald Trump has called it “an act of cowardice”, Governor of Texas Greg Abbott called it one of the deadliest days in the Texan history. The police said the suspect lives 650 miles east of El Paso in Allen (Dallas). Initial probe has recovered a four-page document espousing the male suspect’s hate towards the immigrants, especially the Hispanics. In a press conference, El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said the document “indicates to some degree he has a nexus to a potential hate crime”. FBI El Paso Special-Agent-in-Charge Emmerson Buie has said that more investigation is needed for determining whether the shooting was a hate crime.
