Egyptian presidential candidate HQ attacked
May 29 , 2012
Protestors have attacked the campaign headquarters of Egyptian presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq.
Footage broadcast by Egyptian TV stations showed a fire at the building in the Dokki district in the capital Cairo.
No injuries or casualties have been reported.
The incident occurred just hours after it was announced that Shafiq, a former prime minister under ousted President Hosni Mubarak’s regime, and Islamist candidate Mohammed Morsi would compete in a run-off election next month.
Hundreds of people were also seen heading to the city's central Tahrir Square, where the protests that forced Mubarak’s resignation in February 2011 began.
