Egypt witnessed its deadliest rail accident in over a decade on Friday when two trains collided in a station near Alexandria, a coastal city of Egypt. Reports say over 43 people have died and more than 100 people are injured. Egypt’s railway authority said that the crash took place near Khorshid station when a train coming from Cairo slammed into the back of a train that was coming from Port Said, probably due to a technical malfunction. A probe has been ordered by the transport minister of Egypt. He also pledged to hold accountable the person(s) responsible for the crash.
