Egypt jails 21 young women and arrests their lawyer
December 3 , 2013
A lawyer representing 21 young girls was arrested at home today. Reports suggest that 14 out of those 21 female protestors, who participated in favor of Mohamed Morsi, were sentenced to 11 years in prison and the other seven girls were sent to juvenile detention since they were below 18.
"I can separate his arrest from the girls' case," another lawyer in favor of the women said. "This means that any lawyer who comes close to the case will be detained."
A new law in Egypt prohibits gatherings larger than 10 without advance notice.
