May 10 , 2015
A court in Egypt has sentenced the country’s former dictator Hosni Mubarak to three years in prison for corruption.
The sentence, which includes a fine, was announced in the retrial of the 87-year-old former president, who was ousted in 2011 after three decades of autocratic rule.
Mubarak’s sons Gamal and Alaa were also sentenced to jail in the same case.
According to the corruption charges against them, the trio embezzled millions of dollars of state funds.
