Egypt court overturns President Morsi parliament decree
July 11 , 2012
Egypt’s highest court has reversed a decree by President Mohammed Morsi to recall parliament.
Morsi had issued the decree recalling parliament after the military council ordered its dissolution.
The Supreme Constitutional Court is responsible for the current deadlock, following last month’s decision to declare the parliamentary election as null due to flaws in the law setting it up.
Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood party has the biggest bloc of seats in the parliament.
Analysts believe the impasse is part of a power struggle between the military council and the party.
