Ebola outbreak can be ended next year, says Ban Ki-moon
November 22 , 2014
United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that the Ebola outbreak could be ended by mid-2015, if the international response to the deadly disease is stepped up, according to media reports.
He, however, said that though the rate of new Ebola cases was slowing down in some parts of west Africa, another country, Mali, was a matter of deep concern.
Six people have died of Ebola in Mali.
Anthony Banbury, who heads the UN’s Ebola mission, said that the world is "far away" from defeating the disease.
