Ebola a 'global security threat,' says Obama

US President Barack Obama has described the Ebola outbreak in west Africa as a “a threat to global security,” and announced a bigger role for the US in combating the epidemic.
He, however, added that a “global response” was needed.
The measures announced by the US, include sending 3,000 American troops to the affected areas and setting up healthcare facilities.
According to the WHO, Ebola has claimed more than 2,400 lives in west Africa this year.
