Earthquake in Northern Peru

  • As per recent reports, an earthquake of 8.0 magnitude hit the Amazon rainforest of northern Peru. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated that the earthquake tremors were felt on Sunday morning May 26, 2019. However, Peru's National Emergency Operations Center registered the magnitude of 7.2 for the earthquake. Some pictures after the earthquake were shared by the Ministry of the Interior of Peru on Twitter, showing the considerable amount of destruction to life and property. Meanwhile, in Yurimaguas a building was also reported to be collapsed.
